Barbados is a couples’ paradise. Make the most out of your week on this stunning island with your loved one by following our day by day one-week itinerary.
Day 1: Saturday
Arrive at Sugar Bay Barbados where you are greeted with a welcome rum punch before checking out our magical boho-chic home for the week. Walk hand in hand along the beach while the sunsets before heading to a romantic dinner at Reef. Reef’s ever-changing buffet options coupled with the short distance from Sugar Bay’s sparkling blue lagoon makes it the best place to enjoy a filling dinner after a day of travel.
Tip: Meet up with concierge on your first day to book your excursions for the week.
Day 2: Sunday
Sleep in and cuddle a little, you are on holiday after all! Head down to Reef Restaurant for a large section of your favourite breakfast meals. Lovingly rub sunblock on your loved one before heading out to the beach hammocks. Relax under the palm trees while the hammock gently rocks and you sip on your favourite cocktail.
Hop in a kayak and paddle around the Sugar Bay lagoon. You will feel like you are the only two people who exist in the world. Try to be present and soak up the moment, life doesn’t get much better than this!
Head over to Colin’s Beach Bar for lunch before enjoying an afternoon in the pools. The Sugar Bay swim-up pool bar is what will really take Sunday and make it Sunday Funday!
After a long power nap, arrange a ride to Red Door Lounge on the West Coast with our concierge team. Red Door is a premium nightlight hideaway featuring daring cocktails and late-night DJs. On Sundays, you can look forward to live Sax performances and oysters.
Tip: Dine out on the West Coast before visiting Red Door. There are many highly rated restaurants to try.
Day 3: Monday
Sail away along the calm, clear Caribbean Sea. Book a catamaran cruise with your loved one, it will be the highlight of your trip! You can look forward to swimming with sea turtles, snorkelling at shipwrecks and an all you can eat Bajan buffet paired with all you can drink drinks (including the world-famous Bajan Rum Punch). You will be encouraged to dance and let loose – it will be the most fun you have had with your partner in a while.
Head back to Sugar Bay and relax in the privacy and comfort of your room. Enjoy dinner and live music at Umi, the stylish, modern, Asian-Fusion restaurant at Sugar Bay. Walk along the sandy shore, under the light of the moon and stars to look for nesting or hatching turtles. It’s truly a miracle if you are lucky enough to witness it.
Tip: Sugar Bay is on a Turtle Nesting Beach. If you see a turtle nesting or hatching please contact a member of the Sugar Bay Team. We work hard to protect these beautiful and engendered species.
Day 4: Tuesday
Rise and shine, it’s adventure time! Rent a car and go on a self-guided, private, couples tour of the island.
We recommend driving along the scenic east coast. Stop at the beautiful Bottom Bay or the ruins at Harrismith beach before heading to see the surfers at Bathsheba and the untouched Cattlewash beach. Head up Cherry Tree Hill to find St. Nicholas Abbey – a traditional plantation house. We recommend taking the tour which includes rare footage of Barbados during the plantation days, a tour of the house and property and rum tasting. (Train tours will be available from December 2018).
Continue north to North Point to visit Animal Flower Cave for lunch with beautiful rugged cliff ocean views. Stop in at Limegrove Mall on the West Coast for duty-free shopping. Finally, stop at a west coast beach to witness another magical sunset.
End your day of exploring with a relaxing dinner at Sizzle Steakhouse. Steak cooked just the way you like it paired with a glass (or bottle) of wine is the most romantic way to recap on the adventures of your day
Tip: Be sure to have a fully charges cameras/phones for your island tour day. Barbados is beyond beautiful and you will want to get as many couple shots as possible in at the points of interest we outlined.

Day 5: Wednesday
A couple’s getaway isn’t complete without a couple’s massage. Revitalize, refresh and renew your senses at Karma Spa at Sugar Bay. After your morning couples massage, you will want to remain in relaxation mode all day. Pick your favourite spot at Sugar Bay to unwind with your loved one. Relax poolside or on the sandy shores or escape to your room for a little private pampering.
Check out the Bajan Craft Market in the Reef Gazebo before heading to Colin’s Bar at 2 pm for the weekly Bajan Quiz Night. Spice things up by teaming up against your partner. Winner gets a prize of their choice…
Get ready for a night of dancing under the stars, an evening of local nightlife and entertainment. The Beach Extravaganza Dinner Show at Harbour Lights includes local bands, dancers and a Bajan style BBQ along with all you can drink cocktails and transfers to and from your hotel.
Tip: Be sure to keep hydrated and wear sunblock while relaxing poolside. The sun can quickly dehydrate or burn your skin which can ruin your couple’s getaway.
Day 6: Thursday
Start your day with breakfast at Coffee Bean located in the Sugar Bay Chattel Village. Wear comfortable shoes and your Fitbit because today you will be exploring the UNESCO World Heritage Site: The Historic Bridgetown and it’s Garrison.
Sugar Bay is located within the historic site and is just a 2-minute walk from the Garrison. Be sure to check out the Barbados Museum, George Washington House and the Clock Tower. Hire a cab to take you for a quick loop through the capital of the island Bridgetown before dropping you back to Sugar Bay in time for lunch and a dip in the sea.
Later, enjoy an early sunset dinner at Reef Restaurant before heading to a movie night under the stars. Bring your beach towels and relax on the sand with a classic movie and popcorn. Keep the night alive by bar hopping within Sugar Bay. Start at Collin’s Bar, then the Reef / Umi Bar before ending the night in the cozy and quaint the Lazy Mongoose Pub. #ThirstyThursday?
Tip: Ask the concierge for recommended cab companies contact numbers before heading out on any walking tours of the area.

Day 7: Friday
Try something adventurous as a couple! Sign up for surf lessons or explore the underwater world with scuba lessons. It’s your last full day on this magical island, make it count!
Immerse yourself in the culture of the island for your last night in paradise. Head over to Oistins Fish Market for a taste of local cuisine at this street party and fish fry. Don’t miss out on Mahi Mahi and macaroni pie!
Tip: Go to Oistins around 6:00 P.M. – The lines can get pretty long as the night goes on.
Saturday – Last Day
Time flies when you’re in Barbados. Enjoy one last dip in the ocean and stroll on the white sandy shores before packing up your bags and heading to the airport. While waiting in the departure lounge go through all of your cute couple photos together and then immediately start planning your return trip next year. Once you visit once you will be back, don’t say we didn’t warn you.
Tip: Pop into ‘La Tienda’ in the Sugar Bay lobby to pick up your last-minute souvenirs and gifts.
